Episode 24 - The Midlife Mindset Posted: May 10, 2018 - 58 minutes - 34.9 Mb -
This episode kicks off our new episode on the Midlife bran. This first episode explores new possibilities of resetting our Midlife mind to a new mindset that is not based on our calendar age, but instead our biological age. The centenarians of the Okinawa island in japan do not think old age is something to fear, but rather, something to look forward to as the best years in their life. The science behind this is where our favorite psychologist Dr Ellen Langer fits in, with her interesting scientific experiments with aging and mindset.
In our last episode in our series on Longevity, we have a toast to the Happy Hour, and everything sacred to community, friendship and laughter. Building a community and companionship are a big part of life in places where people live extraordinary long lives.
"The opportunity to be lonely almost doesn't exist," said Blue Zone expert, Dan Butler. He has seen how holding a happy hour is a great way to foster friendships. Crystal and I enjoy to share a glass of wine, but even if you dont drink, get together for tea or coffee — the important thing is gathering, not what you're imbibing. Also, laughter, and playfulness are part of this sacred hour each day to do what makes us smile. It is one of the five keys to living a long long life.
In our continuing theme on Longevity, this week we have a conversation about the Hidden Gems in life. By Midlife we are finding a lot of hidden gems on our doorstep. These are life's truly amazing ahh ha moments. Hidden gems arrive, sometimes with perfect timing and often quite unexpectedly.
Sometimes, Hidden gems appear when you are looking or expecting one thing, and something entirely different arrives.
Some Hidden Gems are big, bright, and can't be missed.
Others are shrouded, concealed, and the true meaning or significance, will not be recognized or understood for many years.
Hidden gems are more often seen by Wabi Women.
Wabi washing, a phrase we coined and something we have talked about in many of our radio episodes, helps the shift occurs, so those gems can be discovered. Wabi washing, help us navigate through Midlife and beyond, and if you are curious, head over to our website later, and find out the three simple questions wabi washing asks.
Enjoy the show!
